Small Business Web Design FAQs

No calls? How does a website project work without meetings?

Everything runs through two forms: the Discovery Intake Form at the start of the project, and the Edit Request Form for changes after launch. You tell us what you need in writing, we build it, you review it in writing, we refine it. Nothing gets lost in a phone call, nothing gets misunderstood, and neither of us has to block off 45 minutes for a meeting that could have been a form. Clients who are skeptical of async work are usually converted by the end of the first project.

What if I don't love what you build?

That's what the edit rounds are for. Mini Site clients get one pre-launch rounds, Full Site clients get three, and Chonk SIte clients get five. Our intake form is thorough enough that major surprises are rare, but if something isn't right, we fix it. What we don't offer is a refund after work has begun. The setup fee covers the build, and once we've confirmed your intake form and started the work, that commitment stands on both sides.

Is there a long-term contract?

No. Your monthly retainer is month-to-month after launch. We keep your business by doing good work, not by locking you into a contract. The setup fee is the only upfront commitment. After that, you're free to stay because you want to, not because you have to.

How long does it take to launch?

Most clients are launched within four weeks of submitting their intake form. The timeline is mostly determined by how quickly you turn around feedback, and our current client load. We don't let builds sit on our end and are very communicative about blocks.

What areas around Los Angeles do you serve?

Backpack Jack focuses on North Hollywood, Santa Monica, Burbank, Glendale, and nearby LA communities.

Do you work with creative service businesses?

Yes. Backpack Jack is built for creative service providers, local studios, and independent businesses that need their website to explain their work clearly and build trust quickly.

How long does it take to get my website?

The majority of clients receive their website's initial draft within two weeks of submitting their intake form. The timeline varies based on our current client load. An official delivery date will be assigned to your project and sent to you after completing your Design Intake form.

What's included in monthly website management?

Hosting, SSL, Webflow infrastructure management, and your monthly edit credits (fulfilled within five business days). Everything your site needs to stay healthy, current, and working, without you touching a thing.

Why do you build small business websites in Webflow?

WordPress is the industry default because it's free and familiar, not because it's better. It carries real tradeoffs: plugin bloat, security vulnerabilities, a design ceiling that shows at the SMB price point, and a codebase that becomes a liability over time. Webflow gives us full design fidelity, a CMS you can actually edit without breaking anything, and cleaner code under the hood. For the kind of work we do, it's the right platform. Full stop.

Do you offer payment plans?

The setup fee is due upfront before work begins; that's what confirms your project slot and funds the build. There's no installment plan for the setup fee itself. That said, the monthly retainer starts after launch, and annual billing saves 20% for clients who want to lock in the lower rate.

Do you offer small business web design in Los Angeles?

Yes. Backpack Jack works with LA-area small businesses and creative service providers that need clearer, better-managed websites.

Can you redesign my existing small business website?

Yes. If your current site feels outdated, hard to update, or no longer reflects the quality of your work, we can rebuild it into something cleaner and easier to manage.

How do I get started?

Fill out the form below. We review every submission and respond within five business days with a tier recommendation and clear next steps. There's no sales call, just a straight answer about whether we're a fit and what happens from there.

If your website isn't pulling its weight, that ends here.

No calls. No hourly billing. No long-term contracts. A focused, async process, a site built to last, and a studio that sticks around after launch. If that sounds like what you've been looking for, let's find out if we're a fit.
